Our entryway is a blank slate and we're eager to create a space that will make a lasting first impression.
When we moved into this house 6 months ago, we didn’t have much in the way of home furnishings. We had sold our bedroom set, the one I brought to the marriage from college, and were sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Our dining table had four mismatched chairs around it. Most of our old home décor we sold or got rid of when we moved. You get the picture. We had a list of projects and purchases and we had to triage.
I like to work off of lists, it keeps me organized and focused on priorities. Upon move in, priority number 1 for my husband was getting all of the TVs up on the wall. Priority number 1 for me was an actual bed.
Slowly but surely we’ve made progress - the TVs are functioning and we are no longer sleeping on the floor, but one space remained elusive – the entryway.
A few months ago I was shopping in Tulsa looking for a bed (it being priority number 1 of course) and saw a beautiful console table that looked like it would be great in our house. I took a picture of it and have remembered it as time goes by, but it’s not on the list so it’s not being considered. But then…
That same furniture store had a warehouse sale and wouldn’t you know it – the same table was in the sale! It had been marked down over half off so list be damned, I got it! So now I get to style my entryway and there are so many different directions we could go with it. For someone who is as incredibly bad at making decisions as I am, this could take awhile!
Vases
Vases are so versatile. Put in a real plant, faux plant, feathers, or let them stand on their own. I'm a big fan of using vases for table styling, bonus that they're easily found in many different price points!
Decorative Objects
Decorative objects are a great way to add personality to any table or shelf. I like to buy things that will go in multiple spaces so I can change things up on a whim. Part of that might be my indecisiveness showing!
Right now I'm really drawn to the Jennifer Fisher collection at CB2. If you're not familiar with CB2, it's a member of the Crate and Barrel family and is basically C&B's cooler, hipper little sister. In my opinion anyway!
I Love Lamp
Lamp's are a great way to illuminate a space while adding style. Bonus that entryway lamps let would-be intruders know someone is home and to stay away! Paranoid? Maybe. I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts! Anyone here listen to Crime Junkie? If so, let's talk!
Moving on... I really love One Kings Lane for lamps. Some of them are pretty pricey, but I've had bad luck with cheap light fixtures breaking or being super light. I'm generally pretty budget conscious but am willing to splurge a bit more in the entryway since it's the first space people see when they walk in the door.
There you have it. Stay tuned for future posts once the entryway is finally complete! Thanks for following along!
All the Radness.
